Study at the forefront of research on human spatial patterns and social disparities. Gain practical experience through hands-on fieldwork while developing core competencies for conducting empirical research and analyzing societal, economic, regional, and urban influences. Our program emphasizes examining spatial distributions of human behavior and regional characteristics, while investigating the intricate connections between society and nature, plus the socioeconomic challenges of land use and habitation. As a comprehensive social science, Human Geography analyzes spatial human activities and regional attributes. It uniquely examines society-environment interactions and addresses land use and settlement issues. Geographers pioneer creative methods to study complex daily life interconnections, the significance of location in global migrations, emerging economic disparities, and contemporary environmental, health, and urban challenges.
Geography pairs well with other UTSC offerings like City Studies, Environmental Science, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics for Management, and Development Studies. Many UTSC programs, including the International Development Co-op Program, list Geography courses as electives.
