The Department of Political Studies provides both thesis and project-based master's programs focusing on areas like Canadian governance, Northern political systems, political theory, public administration, nonprofit sector governance, global affairs, and developing nations' political systems. These accelerated programs enable students to complete their degrees within twelve months.
For the thesis track, students must complete four courses and submit a 75-page thesis. The project alternative involves six courses plus a substantial research paper.
Unlike larger Canadian institutions, this graduate program maintains an intimate cohort size, accepting just 10-12 new students annually. This fosters personalized attention to student needs, particularly in designing individual academic paths. Faculty collaborate closely to ensure course availability, while maintaining strong mentorship relationships throughout coursework and research projects.
