Graduate students work on research projects guided by faculty advisors across four specialized research fields. Our research initiatives and lab facilities benefit from the expertise of four technologists and support from the Engineering Computer Center staff. The department maintains collaborative ties with various campus units such as Engineering Physics and Biomedical Engineering. With a team of 21 faculty members and eight technical/administrative personnel, the department includes five distinguished chair holders: Tony C.Y. Chung (NSERC-SaskPower Senior Industrial Research Chair in Smart Grid Technologies), Ha Nguyen (NSERC-Cisco Systems Research Chair in Mining Solutions), Safa Kasap (Centennial Enhancement Chair in Photonics), Brian Berscheid (Barbhold Chair in Information Technology), and Xiaodong Liang (Canada Research Chair in Technology Solutions for Energy Security in Remote, Northern, and Indigenous Communities).
Master's degree, or equivalent, from a recognized university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of full-time study (e.g. 60 credit units USask equivalent).
Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research.
