This hands-on veterinary training program offers Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) graduates supervised clinical experience to enhance their readiness for general practice or specialized education. During the 12-month program, participants will cycle through key clinical departments:
Internal medicine
Surgery
Emergency care
Anesthesia
Diagnostic imaging
Mentored by experienced clinicians, participants will develop diverse technical abilities, encounter various clinical scenarios, and handle different patient cases. The program also includes communication and public speaking workshops. The comprehensive skills acquired through this certification will equip graduates for advanced clinical residencies and graduate programs leading to specialty board certification.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants must be accepted for an internship to be eligible for admission to the certificate program.
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), or equivalent, from a recognized college or university
A cumulative weighted average of at least a 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (i.e. 60 credit units)
Eligibility for restricted, educational SVMA licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan
IELTS (Academic) - Overall Band Score 6.5 With minimum individual scores of Reading 6, Listening 6, Speaking 6, Writing 6
TOEFL IBT - Internet Based 86 With minimum individual scores of Reading 19, Listening 19, Speaking 19, Writing 19
