Environmental geoscience examines the connections between Earth's natural processes, human actions, and our surroundings. Experts in this field analyze how geological forces have influenced the planet's land, water, and air systems throughout history while assessing humanity's effects on these critical systems.
This broad scientific discipline encompasses specialized areas like geochemistry, sediment analysis, microbial geology, earth physics, mineral studies, fossil research, and water systems. Students gain skills to combine insights from these specialties to better comprehend Earth's physical, chemical, and biological systems across different time periods. The curriculum also covers strategies for tackling modern challenges, including sustainable resource management and reducing ecological damage from extraction activities.
