In the College of Engineering, an "Option" refers to a structured curriculum offering specialized training in a specific field as part of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.E.) degree. These College-approved Options, tailored to individual Departments, require a minimum of 15 credit units of non-core coursework.

Chemical Engineering students can pursue this particular Option, which allows them to specialize in petroleum engineering, oil and gas operations, and bitumen processing through targeted coursework.
Chemical engineers (often called process engineers) apply chemistry principles to solve industrial challenges and develop sustainable products. They focus on designing chemical processes and equipment while minimizing environmental impact.
The University of Saskatchewan has transformed its first-year engineering program - called RE-ENGINEERED - to enhance student success and engagement. This unique Canadian initiative replaces traditional exams with continuous assessments and provides daily academic support.
RE-ENGINEERED features hands-on learning experiences that introduce various engineering fields. Students complete more regular assignments instead of high-pressure final exams, allowing for ongoing grade improvement.
Engineering majors (or disciplines) are selected after the first year, determining the focus of upper-level studies.
