They collaborate with residents, developers, and government representatives to shape spaces that effectively utilize or protect environmental resources, economic vitality, social equity, cultural heritage, visual appeal, and critical infrastructure.
The curriculum explores the complexities of urban growth management across diverse settings and introduces cutting-edge approaches in planning strategies and urban design. Key study areas encompass: technology-integrated land-use strategies, pedestrian-friendly transit systems and transportation networks, climate adaptation measures, energy efficiency initiatives, water resource protection, and ecosystem conservation. Students gain expertise in public participation methods, policy evaluation and governmental procedures, economic factors, legal frameworks for planning and development, spatial data technologies, and dispute mediation techniques.

Students entering the Bachelor of Arts program, or who are undecided about which program they are interested in, are encouraged to take Foundations of Mathematics 30. Students interested in the Bachelor of Science program are encouraged to take Pre-Calculus 30.
