This program explores human behavior, social structures, and cultural norms to uncover and evaluate the underlying gender perspectives that shape them. It investigates shifting gender roles, nonbinary identities, LGBTQ+ studies, social movements, and contemporary interpretations of gender.
You'll analyze representations of femininity and masculinity across various media including advertising, journalism, literature, visual arts, music, adult content, religious contexts, and cinema. The curriculum covers connections between biological factors and gender concepts, gender-influenced communication patterns, gender's impact on identity development and social integration, as well as women's evolving participation in economic and political spheres.
