The Biology Honours program offers undergraduate research opportunities as part of the BSc degree. This option is ideal for high-achieving students planning to pursue graduate studies in Biology or related disciplines, or for those seeking careers where research skills are valuable. Alternatively, students can undertake a research project by enrolling in Biology 4400 (worth 6 credit hours).
Unlike the standard BSc Major, the Honours program includes a mandatory research thesis. While both programs require five courses per semester over eight semesters, the Honours thesis carries 12 credits, bringing the total to 126 credit hours versus the Major's 120. The research component must be finished during the BSc program and might involve a four-month summer research period before the final year, when students take Biology 4900 (Advanced Research and Thesis).
