The Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism is a collaborative degree program between the University of Prince Edward Island and Holland College. This program combines hands-on journalism training (mainly at Holland College) with a broad liberal arts education focusing on research, analytical skills, and critical thinking (primarily at UPEI).
Typically, students begin with one year at the University, followed by two years in Holland College's Journalism diploma program, concluding with a final year back at UPEI. The last year often features journalism writing opportunities either on campus or through Holland College connections. While the standard study sequence is recommended, alternative arrangements are possible, provided students complete at least five courses (15 semester-hours) after obtaining their Holland College diploma.
