Representing Canada's dual-language and three-part legal framework (civil law, common law, and Indigenous law), while situated in the nation's capital, the Faculty of Law provides advanced degree options including Master's and Doctoral programs in Law.
The law graduate programs result from collaboration between the Common Law and Civil Law departments. We accept applicants with law degrees from either legal tradition and from various global jurisdictions. Instruction occurs in English or French, with some bilingual offerings. Students can easily pursue their advanced legal education while gaining exposure to Canada's diverse legal systems and language heritage.
These programs are available in English or French, occasionally blending both languages. Following University of Ottawa guidelines, students may submit exams, coursework, and research papers or theses in either official language. The graduate studies adhere to the university's standard academic regulations.
