Mirroring Canada's bilingual and tripartite legal framework (civil law, common law, Indigenous law), and situated in the nation's capital, the Faculty of Law provides advanced degree programs culminating in a Master's or Doctorate in Law.
The graduate legal studies represent a collaborative effort between the Common Law and Civil Law departments. We accept law graduates from both traditions and from international jurisdictions. Instruction is available in English or French, with some courses offered bilingually. Students can easily pursue their advanced degrees while gaining exposure to Canada's diverse legal systems and language practices.
These programs are delivered in English and French, occasionally blending both languages. Following University of Ottawa guidelines, examinations, coursework, and research papers or theses may be submitted in either official language. The programs adhere to the standard regulations governing graduate-level education.
