The Master of Laws in Common Law (LLM CL) is a one-year, course-focused graduate program designed to offer international law graduates essential education in Canada's common law framework. The program offers two intake options. Candidates with prior common law education can enroll starting in May or September. Those without formal common law background, including civil law practitioners or individuals from hybrid legal systems, must commence the LLM CL Program in May. The May intake enables participants to establish a strong foundation through introductory Canadian common law courses before progressing to advanced graduate or upper-level J.D. classes in September.

This curriculum assists students in fulfilling their National Committee on Accreditation requirements while also providing access to diverse graduate-level and upper-year J.D. courses available at the Peter A. Allard School of Law.
