Students aiming to advance their education in computer science towards a Master of Computer Science (MCS) or Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (PhD) can enroll in collaborative programs provided by the University of Ottawa's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and Carleton University's School of Computer Science, operating under the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science (OCICS).
The Institute oversees these programs and facilitates cooperation between the universities in graduate-level computer science education.
Alongside faculty from both computer science departments, the Institute includes members with computer science backgrounds from various other academic units.
The School of Computer Science also contributes to the master's-level collaborative program in bioinformatics.
Have a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in computer science (or equivalent), with a minimum average of B (70%).
