The Theatre Department provides two graduate degree options: a Master of Arts (MA) in Theatre and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre Directing.

The MA Theatre program requires a thesis and concentrates on theatrical theory and dramaturgical studies. This program aims to connect theoretical frameworks with practical applications, fostering collaboration between scholars and theater professionals. Students expand their academic knowledge by exploring theater's unique epistemological and cross-disciplinary aspects as both an art form and field of study. The curriculum examines major Western theater traditions through multiple analytical lenses, deepens appreciation of Canada's dual theatrical heritage, and advances scholarly discussion about each tradition.
