The Department of Classics and Religious Studies, part of the Faculty of Arts, provides a Master of Arts program specializing in Classical Studies. This program focuses primarily on Late Antiquity (200-700 AD).
Designed to equip students for advanced research in Late Antiquity—the pivotal era bridging ancient and medieval times—the department also offers instruction in Coptic, Syriac, and Ethiopic languages alongside traditional Latin and Greek. Students gain comprehensive foundational knowledge to prepare them for PhD-level studies.
This graduate program enhances analytical abilities and expands subject-matter expertise while developing transferable skills like academic writing, structured argumentation, and research methodology. These competencies prove valuable beyond academia, with many alumni securing roles in municipal or national government where their advanced training is highly regarded.
