The Doctor of Medicine program spans four years, comprising 147 weeks of instruction with 72 weeks dedicated to clinical training. The Preclerkship phase focuses on biomedical science education, while the Clerkship emphasizes hands-on clinical experience. Medical students must exhibit the intellectual capacity, moral character, and emotional maturity essential for becoming skilled physicians. Their conduct must align with professional ethical standards, as outlined in the Faculty's Code of Professional Conduct. This program is available in both English and French.
These programs equip graduates for diverse careers in academia and beyond, specializing in teaching and research. Students engage in laboratory work, coursework, and research presentations, developing independence in conducting studies and publishing findings. The curriculum fosters a dynamic learning environment that encourages research excellence. Graduates are expected to demonstrate professional-level research competence in their chosen fields. The Department collaborates with several interdisciplinary programs, including Bioinformatics (master's level), Human and Molecular Genetics (master's and doctoral levels), and Pathology and Experimental Medicine (master's and doctoral levels).
