Sociology examines societies, institutions, and cultures through empirical research. Throughout your coursework, you'll utilize theoretical frameworks to analyze real-world scenarios while mastering both quantitative and qualitative research methods—including interviews, focus groups, discourse analysis, and surveys—which are widely employed in today's professional settings. By bridging theory with practical investigation, you'll cultivate a nuanced perspective on contemporary social challenges, including equity and injustice, interethnic dynamics, social norms and violations, personal and group identity formation, gender dynamics, global development initiatives, structures of influence, and the interplay between science and technological advancement.
