The Family Studies program spans two years, catering to students who wish to explore long-term relationships for professional or personal growth. Participants can earn either a Family Studies Diploma or an Associate of Arts Degree with a Family Studies focus. This interdisciplinary curriculum presents diverse viewpoints on family structures through lenses from the Social Sciences and Humanities. Foundational courses introduce sociological, psychological, philosophical, literary, and historical examinations of families in Canada and globally. Academic experts and professionals contribute as guest speakers, enriching the program with cutting-edge insights and real-world experiences. Both mandatory and optional courses deepen students' comprehension of the intricate social dynamics shaping family concepts. Langara College's Family Studies program stands out as distinctive within British Columbia's college network.
Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).
