Sociology examines societies, institutions, and cultures through empirical research. Throughout your coursework, you'll implement theoretical frameworks to analyze real-life situations and gain proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods—including interviews, focus groups, discourse analysis, and surveys—which are widely utilized in today's professional settings. By bridging theory with practical investigation, you'll cultivate a nuanced perspective on contemporary social challenges, including equity and injustice, interethnic dynamics, social norms and violations, personal and group identity, gender dynamics, global progress, societal influence, and the intersection of science with technology.
