The Faculty of Education's Teacher Education program provides both full-time and part-time Bachelor of Education degrees. This initiative equips future educators for teaching roles in Ontario's French-language elementary and secondary schools. The elementary school teaching curriculum adopts a broad, generalist approach, whereas the secondary education program focuses on specialized subject areas. Both pathways have distinct academic prerequisites and application processes.
Foundational teacher training serves as the starting point for aspiring educators. Program design emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, achieved through structured rotations between university coursework and school placements. Aligned with the University's commitment to supporting Franco-Ontarian communities, the Faculty encourages exploration of diverse values and evolving teaching methods, fostering discussions about the cultural vitality of this minority-language population.
These teacher preparation programs meet all requirements for the Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation and the Certificate of Qualification and Registration as mandated by provincial regulations.
