The Master of Science in Engineering (MScE) is a research-focused program where completing a thesis is a key component. The thesis topic must receive approval from the relevant Graduate Academic Unit (GAU) at least six months prior to the graduation ceremony where the student intends to graduate. The master's thesis should showcase the student's ability to conduct independent research while contributing new knowledge to their field. It must reflect thorough familiarity with existing literature and maintain high standards of academic writing, free from typographical and formatting errors.
This program mandates at least 15 credit hours of coursework (refer to the academic calendar for credit details) and a minimum one-year residency. Over half of these credits must align with the student's specialization area. With guidance from a faculty advisor, students choose courses tailored to their focus area. Those transitioning from unrelated undergraduate fields may need to complete additional preparatory coursework. Whenever possible, students are advised to enroll in relevant mathematics and engineering courses.
Program Duration (full-time): 1-2 years (MEng); 2 years (MScE); 3-4 years (PhD)
Admission Terms: Fall and Winter for MEng; Fall, Winter, and Summer for MScE and PhD
