Our program features the Alberta Chamber of Resources Chair in Mining Engineering, the Canada Research Chair in Natural Resources Uncertainty Management, and the Centre for Computational Geostatistics.
Mining engineers plan both surface and underground mining operations, oversee the development of mine shafts and underground tunnels, and create systems for mineral transportation to processing facilities. The curriculum covers explosives and blasting, rock mechanics, economics, various mining disciplines, business and environmental considerations, alongside fundamental engineering courses in mechanical, civil, electrical, and chemical engineering. The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering along with the School of Mining & Petroleum Engineering provides undergraduate and graduate students with top-tier education and facilities in North America.
