Tackling these intricate challenges demands diverse expertise and viewpoints regarding Earth's environmental systems: encompassing the biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere. The University of New Brunswick integrates this specialized training through its cross-disciplinary environmental science programs.

As one of UNB's original faculties dating back to its 1785 founding, the Faculty of Science offers Environmental Sciences as either a major or honors concentration within a four-year Bachelor of Science degree. This collaborative program draws resources from all departments within the faculty, though no minor option exists in this field.

All living creatures continuously interact with and adapt to their surroundings. On shorter timescales, organisms adjust through biochemical, physiological, and behavioral changes, while populations evolve over longer periods. In our current era of significant human-driven planetary changes, comprehending organisms' capacity to respond becomes crucial. This academic stream emphasizes comprehensive understanding of Earth's biodiversity and its multi-level responses (from molecular to community scales) to environmental shifts.
