The Bachelor of Indigenous Environmental Science and Practice (BIESP) is an interdisciplinary program that cultivates future leaders in environmental science, land management, and policy development through Indigenous knowledge frameworks. This degree highlights the ethical integration of Indigenous and Western scientific approaches to solve intricate environmental problems. It promotes sustainable environmental stewardship by applying Indigenous knowledge systems, land ethics, and traditional practices rooted in Indigenous worldviews and cultural values. The program affirms the significance of Indigenous knowledge while providing a thoughtful perspective on environmental science, anchored in Indigenous methodologies and aimed at practical solutions. Alongside natural and applied sciences, students explore the historical and modern dynamics between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Canada, including the legal, political, and economic dimensions of environmental practice.
