The concept of global interconnectedness has emerged as a defining characteristic of our contemporary era. The difficulties experienced by developing nations in the Global South directly influence Canadian society. International Development Studies (IDS) is a multidisciplinary curriculum designed to examine the social, political, and economic challenges affecting emerging nations. This program incorporates chosen courses from UNB's Faculty of Arts, offering students a comprehensive perspective on critical modern topics such as North-South relations, worldwide integration, economic deprivation, indigenous issues, cultural conflicts, and environmental sustainability.

Students can pursue IDS as a primary focus, combined major, or honors specialization within a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. The Arts program spans four years and encompasses diverse disciplines focused on humanity's development and the transformation of global communities, ideologies, and systems. During the initial two years, learners explore subjects across humanities, languages, social sciences, alongside scientific and business studies, establishing a versatile base for specialized upper-level coursework.

Practical experience
IDS participants gain access to valuable internship opportunities at both domestic and global scales.
