The Microbiology (MSc) program focuses on research, aiming to broaden understanding of contemporary microbiology studies across various disciplines while honing skills in presenting scientific findings.
MicroGSA, the Microbiology Graduate Students Association, enriches graduate life by organizing departmental social gatherings, professional networking opportunities, and career development initiatives.
As Canada's sole dedicated microbiology department, we uniquely combine molecular biology, medical microbiology, biochemical approaches, environmental studies, and practical applications. Though operating autonomously, our department fosters interdisciplinary connections with other university science programs and collaborates with external research institutions.
The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Microbiology (MSc) program.
To be considered for admission into the Microbiology (MSc) program, you must have:
A BSc (Honours), four-year BSc (Major) or equivalent degree in a field deemed relevant to that of the proposed study by the department.
English language proficiency
IAEP (Intensive Academic English Program) - Pass Level 5/AEPUCE (Academic English Program for University and College Entrance) with a minimum of 65% overall
IELTS (Academic module) (International English Language Testing System) - 6.5 overall
Internet-based TOEFL - Overall score of 86 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking - 20)
Pearson Test of English Academic - 61 overall
Cambridge Assessment of English at the C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency level - Minimum score of 180
