The Ph.D. Program aims to enhance students' abilities in historical analysis, foster independent research practices, and equip them for professional careers. Students learn to analyze modern historiography trends, utilize innovative research methods, and investigate intricate historical questions. Coursework covers: The Americas, Britain and the Commonwealth, Canada, Medieval and Early Modern Europe, Modern Europe, and the Modern World. Thesis specialization is limited to areas with suitable faculty guidance and sufficient library resources. The Graduate Executive Committee Chair oversees program administration with Committee support. All History Department faculty at Assistant Professor level or above serve on this Committee. The Ph.D. requires both coursework and significant research.
