Chemistry explores the fundamental elements that make up all substances in the universe. Our daily environment — from the atmosphere we inhale to the liquids we consume, the meals we enjoy, vehicles we operate, and even our own physical forms — consists of these elemental building blocks.
The field of chemistry comprises five principal disciplines:
Analytical chemistry specializes in identifying and quantifying chemical components, with applications in areas such as criminal investigations.
Organic chemistry examines carbon-based compounds, which form the foundation of biological organisms.
Inorganic chemistry investigates all other elements, predominantly those occurring in mineral formations.
Physical chemistry analyzes the core principles that dictate how matter behaves.
Theoretical chemistry establishes conceptual models based on fundamental physics, including quantum theory, to explain all chemical processes.
This program emphasizes comprehensive theoretical understanding across all five disciplines while developing practical competencies through experiential learning. Students will engage in rigorous lab sessions covering chemical transformations, safe substance management, and training with sophisticated instrumentation like elemental analyzers, spectroscopic devices, magnetic resonance equipment, X-ray crystallography, and mass spectrometers.
Chemistry majors benefit from cutting-edge research laboratories that facilitate the innovative work of our distinguished faculty. These instructors lead investigations across various chemical science domains, including catalytic processes, nanoscale materials, and f
Applicants who complete the equivalent of Grade 12 in high school (secondary school) will be considered for admission. Applicants who have completed secondary qualifications in other countries will be considered for admission under the High School Admission Route. Applicants to undergraduate programs who have completed post-secondary study will be considered for admission under the Post-Secondary Admission Route.
