Experiment with atoms. Construct molecules. Discover the fundamental particles that form the basis of all scientific disciplines. Observe through the microscope to witness the dynamic interactions and energy of the universe's smallest components. As a chemistry professional, your expertise in chemical processes may result in developing sustainable materials such as biodegradable plastics or life-saving pharmaceuticals.
Our Chemistry and Biochemistry Department boasts cutting-edge laboratories and instruments that provide hands-on experience with industry-standard techniques. Intimate class settings promote meaningful connections between students and faculty. Both Chemistry and Biochemistry majors follow a foundational program where labs, lectures, and tutorials will enable you to: Gain comprehensive knowledge of organic (carbon-based) and inorganic chemistry. Develop skills to recognize compounds, examine their molecular arrangements, and investigate reaction dynamics and thermodynamics. Obtain thorough instruction in research techniques. Conduct groundbreaking research during your undergraduate studies (exclusive to honours and specialization students)
Our Chemistry honours and specialization degrees hold accreditation from Quebec's Order of Chemists. The Chemistry Co-op opportunity allows you to undertake 12-16 week paid professional placements.
