The MSC.MCB program provides five specialization options: 1) biochemistry; 2) cell biology; 3) microbiology; 4) molecular biology and genetics; and 5) plant biology. Students can also pursue interdisciplinary concentrations in Neuroscience or Toxicology.
This program aims to equip graduate students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in modern molecular and cellular biology, covering experimental methods, literature research, and effective communication. Graduates will gain the expertise required to conduct rigorous scientific investigations and qualify for roles with varying responsibilities across academia (as educators or technical personnel), the biotechnology sector (including pharmaceuticals, biomedicine, and agribusiness), or government research facilities. They'll also be well-positioned to pursue doctoral studies or transition into professional degrees (like law, medicine, or business) or teaching credentials.

Qualification Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have completed a four-year honours undergraduate science degree (or its equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Normally, the applicant must have achieved a “B” (75%) average or higher during the last two years of full-time study. In exceptional circumstances, students with a “B-minus” average (70%) will be considered provided there is strong supporting evidence of research aptitude and potential. Each applicant must obtain the support of a faculty member willing to serve as their thesis advisor and list them accordingly on their application for admission, at the time of its submission. All components of the application, including transcript(s), graduate certificate(s), grading scale(s), language test results, assessment forms, a statement of interest must be uploaded no later than two months after an application is submitted through the OUAC portal. Applications that are incomplete after this time period will be closed. International English Language Testing System (Academic) (IELTS) 6.5 , Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and (TOEFL Special Home Edition (iBT)) 89 A minimum score of 21 must be achieved in each of the four categories (listening, speaking, reading, writing) paper based- minimum score of 600
