The Biophysics Interdepartmental Graduate Program operates as a distinct, cross-disciplinary initiative. It currently includes faculty from multiple departments across the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences, College of Biological Science, Ontario Agricultural College, and Ontario Veterinary College. This diverse faculty makeup directly influences the interdisciplinary nature of our students' research projects. Many students receive joint supervision from professors in different departments, with all candidates supported by an interdepartmental advisory committee. Our MSc and PhD degrees focus primarily on research, culminating in a scientific thesis. Student research typically falls within these key areas: Biomechanical Biophysics, Computational Biophysics, Cellular Biophysics, Molecular Biophysics, and Structural Biophysics.
While enrolled in the Biophysics Program, graduate students also maintain membership in their advisor's home department.
Students must have honours Bachelor’s degree in a wide range of areas, including: Biophysics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, Engineering, Kinesiology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Food Science, etc.
