Students can pursue an MSc in Biomedical Sciences with specializations in Reproductive Biology; Developmental, Cell and Tissue Morphology; or Biomedical Toxicology, Pharmacology, and Neuroscience. Thesis research projects offer diverse options, covering molecular, cellular, immunological, or developmental studies of growth and differentiation, as well as physiological, morphological, or biomechanical examinations of healthy functions and disease mechanisms across various tissues. Alternatively, projects may explore pharmacological principles tied to therapeutics and drug toxicology. The program offers two pathways: a standard two-year thesis-based MSc track and a one-year MBS option combining coursework with a research component.
Students may choose to concentrate their MSc studies in one of seven key areas: 1) reproductive biology and development; 2) cellular and molecular foundations of health and disease; 3) cancer biology; 4) cardiovascular physiology; 5) stem cell biology and regenerative medicine; 6) biomedical toxicology and pharmacology; or 7) neuroscience. Potential research topics include: molecular, cellular, or developmental studies of tissue or organism growth; physiological, structural, or biomechanical analyses of normal or pathological processes in different organs and tissues; or pharmacological investigations concerning treatment approaches and drug effects.
For admission to a Masters program, our department requires an Honours BSc in Biological Sciences or a degree in veterinary medicine or equivalent with a minimum B+ or (77% Ontario equivalent GPA) over the last two years of full-time study.
