The School of Fine Art and Music offers distinctive programs that equip students with specialized knowledge and hands-on training in art and cultural heritage studies through an interdisciplinary approach. Our curriculum readies graduates for diverse professional paths such as museum curation, archival work, gallery management, and roles in legal, corporate, educational, and government sectors dealing with cultural artifacts. Students acquire qualifications for advanced studies in art scholarship, conservation, library sciences, and art therapy.
The MA program features two tracks: a thesis option and a course-based path culminating in a major research paper (MRP). The thesis program spans six semesters, while the MRP track requires three semesters. Both pathways deliver foundational understanding of Art History and Visual Culture within a cross-disciplinary framework, preparing students for advanced academic pursuits or careers in art publishing, museum curation, or cultural policy.
For the coursework and MRP option, students complete three mandatory courses, three electives, and produce a 10,000-15,000 word research paper.
Students must choose two (2) electives from the designated course list, with the third elective optionally selected from this list or an approved course from another College of Arts program.
