The Master of Applied Science (MASc) program provides advanced research opportunities across various engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Biological, Computer, Environmental, Systems and Computing, and Water Resources Engineering. This thesis-based program is offered for both full-time and part-time students, combining coursework, practical research, and thesis development to deliver comprehensive training in engineering sciences and research methods.

For those focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the program offers an AI specialization (MASc.ENGG AI). This collaborative track equips students with extensive AI knowledge through instruction from multidisciplinary faculty experts in deep learning and machine learning. Under faculty supervision, students engage in AI research while gaining hands-on experience via online courses, lectures, team projects, and practical learning. The curriculum covers machine learning fundamentals, programming, algorithmic thinking, mathematical and statistical foundations, optimization, and data visualization. Additionally, students explore AI's policy, regulatory, and ethical implications.

Qualification Requirements

Students must have

  • Bachelor‚Äôs degree in engineering, or equivalent with a minimum 75% average in the last 2 years of fulltime study (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated acceptable analytical ability by having sufficient background in mathematics, chemistry, and physics
  • Applicants without a BEng must be prepared to take additional courses in topics related to the research project, without receiving graduate credit(s).
