The Neuroscience and Applied Cognitive Science PhD programs offer specialized education for those fascinated by the brain's complex operations.
This curriculum covers: fundamental cognitive functions, behavioral neuroscience, human factors engineering, neural basis of cognition, developmental psychology across the lifespan, and core principles of cognitive science. Participants gain exposure to cross-disciplinary perspectives through weekly seminars featuring Neuroscience and Applied Cognitive Science research presentations by peers, faculty, and visiting scholars.
Students also complete coursework tailored to their individual research focus. A distinctive aspect involves hands-on practicum placements, enabling trainees to acquire specialized skills in settings like research labs, healthcare facilities, or public/private sector organizations. Furthermore, NACS candidates can optionally pursue dual enrollment in either of the University of Guelph's interdisciplinary initiatives: the Neuroscience collaboration or Toxicology partnership program.
