The Creative Writing Major aims to equip students with the skills to develop into socially conscious writers and creative practitioners. The program fosters engagement with environmental concerns and social justice through artistic expression. Students build comprehensive literary knowledge, allowing them to critically assess how their creative work interacts with, transforms, or challenges established traditions and forms. This fusion of literary analysis and creative application cultivates distinctive artistic sophistication.

Throughout their studies, majors experiment with three writing styles, master two, and refine a professional portfolio in one specialization, while minors develop proficiency in two genres. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to produce innovative, impactful creative pieces by mastering technical skills and structural elements across multiple writing disciplines.
