Modern forest conservation and resource management strategies are shaped by worldwide accords and global competition for forest-related goods and services. Professionals in this field need to adapt to dynamic social, economic, and cultural environments. The University of British Columbia offers a Master of International Forestry (MIF), an intensive 10-month graduate program designed to equip students with the expertise, competencies, and methodologies needed to tackle the complex social, environmental, and economic issues surrounding global forest transformation and natural resource stewardship. MIF participants dedicate 8 months to full-time studies at UBC's Vancouver campus, followed by 2-4 months engaged in either an internship or specialized study within their selected discipline.
