The Master of Forestry (MF) is a coursework-focused graduate program available through a collaborative dual-degree initiative with universities in Europe and Canada, known as TRANSFOR-M (Transatlantic Forestry Master). This distinctive educational partnership enables MF candidates to study Forestry across both European and Canadian contexts. The program's primary objective is to prepare future leaders in forest and environmental management with a global perspective, exposing them to varying cultural perspectives, historical backgrounds, and economic factors influencing natural resource management in Canada and Europe. Leveraging the strengths of UBC's MF program and multiple European forestry institutions, we've created a graduate experience offering exceptional opportunities. Graduates benefit from obtaining two master's degrees from internationally renowned forestry schools, significantly expanding their career prospects.
Applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC with: a minimum overall average in the B+ grade range (76-79% at UBC) in third-year level and above courses; or academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study; or applicants who have a four-year bachelor's degree, or its academic equivalent, which does not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had significant formal training and relevant professional experience to offset such deficiencies, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program or faculty and approval of the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
