UBC Forestry provides a thesis-focused Master's program leading to either a Science (MSc) or Applied Science (MASc) degree. Students in these research-based programs develop specialized research skills while actively expanding academic knowledge in their field. MSc and MASc candidates typically concentrate on particular research questions, with most completing their projects within 2-3 years.
At any time, we enroll about 85-95 thesis master's students, representing roughly 30% of our Forestry graduate community. Beyond their Faculty of Forestry membership, MSc and MASc students also belong to one of our three departments, determined by their faculty advisor's primary affiliation.
