The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at UBC's Okanagan campus in Kelowna, BC offers students the chance to refine advanced creative techniques across multiple media formats. Learners flourish in an innovative setting guided by accomplished instructors from diverse artistic backgrounds. Participants engage with cutting-edge contemporary art theories while collaborating in a nurturing yet critically engaged studio atmosphere. The curriculum features modern production facilities equipped for digital media, printmaking, sculpture, and photography. During their residency, each scholar receives dedicated studio space to experiment, exchange ideas, and cultivate their artistic practice alongside a vibrant community of peers.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants to the MFA programs are expected to have a BFA, with a B plus (76%) in third-year level and above courses or at least 12 credits in third- and fourth-year classes in their intended field of study with an A- (80%) or better average. An applicant's background must sufficiently prepare them for advanced work in creative practice.
IELTS - Minimum overall band score of 7, no individual score less than 6.5
TOEFL IBT - 97 overall Minimum score of 24 in Reading & Listening, min. score of 23 in Writing & Speaking (internet version).
