This specialization adopts a developmental perspective when examining high potential, encompassing considerations for different age groups and methods for identification and curriculum design that emphasize creating well-matched educational experiences. The curriculum places the study of gifted individuals within cognitive and social development frameworks. Practical fieldwork involving observations, interviews, and instruction with individuals and small groups will enable students to recognize the unique requirements of highly capable learners at preschool, elementary, and secondary levels.
