The MERM Program focuses on progressing the study and application of measurement techniques, program assessment, and research approaches within social and behavioral sciences (including Psychology, Education, Quality of Life Research, and Health Studies). For over 25 years, MERM's faculty and students have helped establish its global recognition as a pioneer in this domain. Our community has conducted investigations across human services, healthcare, psychological, educational, community, and health environments. The key distinction between the MA and MED in MERM lies in their structure: the MED is entirely coursework-based, while the MA involves two fewer courses but mandates a master's thesis. Consequently, submitting a thesis is generally considered essential for doctoral program admission at most universities.
The MERM Program stands as Canada's sole program, and one of few in North America, where graduates receive a specialized degree in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology - rather than a general social or health science degree with MERM concentration. Earning a MERM degree with interdisciplinary emphasis distinguishes our graduates in global academic and professional circles.
