The Master's program in English at UBCO is part of the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. Focused on the Humanities, our professors conduct research and critical inquiry spanning numerous academic disciplines. The program brings together experts from various fields including World Languages and Literatures, Cultural Studies, Digital Humanities, and English and Indigenous Literature. While distinct, these areas are interconnected, fostering meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration.
Our graduate program bridges literary and cultural studies with themes like nature, philosophy, identity, environmental systems, and technology, examining them through both historical and modern lenses. With its global perspective, the program offers students broader cultural understanding beyond the traditional Anglo-American focus of Canadian English programs. Though UBCO is the smaller, newer campus in the UBC network, we maintain a strong research-focused environment.
Our intimate campus size promotes closer relationships and frequent student-faculty interaction across disciplines. If this aligns with your academic goals, we'd be delighted to have you join our distinctive program.
