Our mathematics education graduate programs provide students with diverse opportunities to explore research and professional pathways in mathematics instruction. These include teacher training, pedagogical approaches for elementary through post-secondary levels, and learning environments ranging from community gardens to cultural venues and family settings. The Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy provides multiple degree options: a PhD in Curriculum Studies with a Mathematics Education focus, MA and MEd programs in Mathematics Education, plus secondary Teacher Education (BEd) majors, Diplomas, and Certificates in Mathematics Education.

Qualification Requirements

Master's degree with high standing in a relevant educational discipline,

1. Scanned copies of all official transcripts
2. Three letters of recommendation
3. Evidence of English language proficiency
4. Permanent Resident Card (both sides), when applicable

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies establishes the minimum admission requirements common to all applicants, usually a minimum overall average in the B plus range (76% at UBC).

IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component.
TOEFL IBT - 92 for the internet-based exam with minimum component scores of 22 (reading, listening, writing, speaking). TOEFL PBT - 580
