Biology is a vast scientific discipline focused on examining all facets of living organisms and their life processes. This field investigates animals, plants, insects, microorganisms, and their interactions with surrounding ecosystems. UBC's Vancouver campus provides an exceptionally diverse selection of specialized courses covering numerous biological subfields. The program is jointly managed by two renowned departments: Botany (one of North America's most prominent plant science programs) and Zoology, a leading department in research and education spanning developmental biology, animal physiology, ecology, and evolutionary studies. Students can pursue Biology as a major or honours program, with options for combined majors/honours in Computer Science, Chemistry, or Oceanography. The Honours degree allows for focused, in-depth study within a specific biological specialization.
