The Bioscience Technology program stands unique in the region, offering specialized training in laboratory and scientific research. Students will master techniques like natural product extraction, fermentation, and bacterial and animal cell culturing. The curriculum includes a six-week practical training component, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in professional settings. Additionally, learners will engage in project-based education, culminating in an independent research project on a subject of their choosing.
Participants attend events and seminars organized by the PEI BioAlliance and tour local biotech firms.
Our program maintains strong ties with PEI's biotech and bioscience sectors while broadening its reach across the Maritime provinces.
Practical training opportunities are designed in collaboration with industry partners. Academic and industry mentors provide project outlines, which students review before submitting applications. The selection process includes interview sessions at Holland College, where candidates and mentors meet to discuss opportunities. Students must interview for a minimum of three positions, after which both parties rank their preferences.
For off-island placements, interviews may be conducted virtually. Students who secure their own mentors (including those in their home provinces) may follow an adjusted interview process.
