The Department of Medical Genetics provides an MSc in Medical Sciences (Medical Genetics) degree (refer to Medical Sciences), available both as postgraduate training for MD graduates and as a standalone program for BSc holders. PhD degrees are awarded through the Medical Sciences program (see The Degree of PhD). Students can conduct research across diverse medical genetics fields where department faculty maintain active research initiatives. Qualification Requirements

The Department's minimum admission requirements are an undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.2 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last 60 units of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.

Where applicable, applicants must provide proof of English Language Proficiency (refer to English Language Requirement). Any one of the following is acceptable:

TOEFL (internet based) minimum score overall 100 with at least 21 per section or equivalent,

CAEL minimum score of 70 with 70 per section.
