The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology offers Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. For thesis-based MSc and PhD degrees, research can be conducted either through the General Program or within one of three specialized areas: Molecular Pathology, Analytical and Environmental Toxicology, or Biopreservation. The department also provides course-based and practicum-focused MSc options. The Department’s minimum admission requirements are a baccalaureate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last 60 units of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.
