The University of Alberta's Physics Department is a broad, full-scale academic unit with investigative initiatives spanning all principal physics disciplines. This includes computational studies, experimental work, and theoretical exploration in fields like astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, geophysics, particle physics, and space/plasma physics. Our faculty consists of 49 professors alongside roughly 50 research associates collaborating with approximately 160 graduate students. The University of Alberta maintains a steadfast dedication to academic distinction, providing some of Canada's finest educational and research resources.
The Department's minimum admission requirements are an undergraduate degree in physics, engineering physics, geophysics or an equivalent program with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution.

The December 6 deadline applies to both September admission and January admission.
